In some of our other discussions we mentioned garbage pickup in Arab.  Feel free to rate the service here and leave a comment to let us know what you think.

Since living in Arab I really haven't had any problems with the Garbage Service, until now. We recently (in Feb.) purchased another home here (inside the city limits) for my mother-in-law, and have called at least 5 times in the past month requesting a garbage can. We got the recycling bin in a couple of days after the 1st call, but for whatever unknown reason, we are still waiting for the garbage can.
In the meantime, don't know what we are supposed to do with the garbage there.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

We called the number that Allied Waste had left a while back about our area's change in the day of service. It's a toll free number for our service and they have told us when we call that they are the ones who handle this area, whick I think they are actually in Albertville.
Monday is the pickup day, and currently my mother-in-law, who is the one living in the house, is just having to put her kitchen garbage bags, etc. into a big black lawn trash bag.

If anyone is still having problems with Allied Waste contact Councilman Ronny Shumate. Leave him your complaint, name, address, and phone number.
You may reach him at rshumate@otelco.net. His home phone is 586-5449.

After calling City Hall and speaking with Jeanette yesterday and explaining everything to her, and another call today to Allied Waste, we finally got a call from Allied Waste this afternoon and shortly afterwards, we got the new can/bin delivered.
Thanks to all of you who were concerned and possibly helped.

I need to get rid of some old junk furniture (dog chewed, not suitable for giving away).  Does Arab pick up stuff like that?  If so, when?  If not, how do I dispose of it?

Are we no longer allowed to recycle pastic bags?

The ones we left in our bin on Tuesday (neatly bundled inside another plastic bag) were not picked up.
