Frisbee golf and million dollar devlopments are just 2 of the most recent failures of the Arab City Council and mayor.  Get in your minds that we don't want you spending our city money on these crazy projects.  I won't be voting for anyone that currently holds an office.

You say their plans are failures, so you are begging the question. Do you have any better ideas, and if so what are doing to implement them?

I don't know about Bubba but think the recent articles in the Tribune spell out that a lot of people disagree with the whole Northridge concept and if I owned a local storefront I would have to be upset as well.  I've mentioned before there isn't enough jobs in Arab and surrounding areas to support anything large in that center and I think we will soon learn that lesson at the taxpayer's expense.

As for the Frisbee golf it's a good sport it gets people out and moving but after seeing gym at the rec center this weekend I think we really could use some improvements there heck we need a bigger Rec center.

Still trying to figure out why the frisbee golf stuff costs that much.  Looks pretty simple last time I played.

I actually agree on the Frisbee golf how can it possibly cost that much to set up that particular activity. In addition, I for the most part agree on the Northridge thing as well I was just trying to see if there are other ideas out there if people just want to be critical

The answer is not just putting a bunch restaurants or retail that more than likely will not make in it this economy. The city needs to be working on getting industry that will sustain themselves as well as help the city grow. If we can get better jobs and industry, the retail and other entertainment type places will follow.

Besides the fact, there are plenty of empty buildings around town that also need to be filled instead of building new ones that most likely will fill for a short time then also become empty.

Totally agreed.  In the case of Northridge they have put the cart before the horse.  Build up jobs then focus on retail.  Plus the deal is beyond unfair for other local businesses.

my plan would be simple and close to what scott is suggesting.  Go out and make Arab somewhere a business would want to open up a large operation here.  DeltaCom has a large operation here, the gov't had that call center here it looks like we are good at call centers so why isn't the city council tracking down leads for call centers or something like that?  I haven't seen much of anything the city has done to promote any large company building in Arab.  They have been so dang focused on retail crap that they forget that people gotta have jobs to afford the stuff.
