Noticed the for sale or lease sign is gone.  There were a few ppl there checking out the lights on the sign the other day.

Maybe we are getting a new restaurant???

Saw that yesterday - I drove by to look at the building permit but there wasn't one up.  Isn't that illegal?

They are definitely cleaning it out.  There were 3-4 dumpsters outside the other day.

Maybe they know someone so they don't need a building permit..   Lips sealed

Well looks like they finally got a permit on the 4th.  It is a new restaurant and from the looks of some of the work (arches going in and such) it is yet another Mexican place.

Glad to see something finally going in there it would be nice if the city would see to it that buildings that are sitting empty are filled before going through with the purchase of land which they admit that they don't know whats going to go on that land.

The new restauarant is Los Arcos.  They have a location in Albertville.  they plan to serve adult beverages such as margaritas.  This would be the first new restaurant in Arab since the legalization of the sale of alcohol passed.  And the city didn't have to bribe them with any tax incentives, or a sweetheart financing deal.

WHAT!!! You mean we don't have to offer up millions of dollars to lure these businesses to Arab?

Don't get me wrong I love Mexican food but it seems like a steak house would have been a better option.  I would say even an upscale Italian would be something different,.

At least they are going to have adult beverages.. no sippy cups?

Well, that building used to house a "steak" house many years ago. Western Sizzlin', actually. I just don't think Arab will support a steak house.

I do, however, think someone should open up a Baskin-Robbins or Cold Stone Creamery. Mmm.
