In an article posted on The Arab Tribune (
http://www.thearabtribune.com/articles/2007/11/28/news/news2.txt) a new board member has asked the board to consider changing the staffing to a 4 day x 10 hours a week operation. This would give employees Friday off.
Personally, I have the utmost respect for the AEC employees that work the lines and repair the trucks and such. I honestly believe that they would/deserve the day off and if they are ok with the idea I would approve it.
Here are a few cons for this concept that I think are going to cause problems.
A- Overtime/Cost to Customer might increase - There are going to be some Fridays where work will have to be performed. This will be in the overtime area or could be passed on to the customer.
B - Front office should not be closed on Friday. I think this policy should only extend to the crews that work the lines. The Customer Service arm of the AEC needs to work normal hours on normal business days (They should be open to 5:00 each business day)
(Side note a little off topic)
I have never been impressed by the customer service at the AEC. The front office doesn't even have the ability to run a credit card and the bullet proof glass with no speaker or microphone system is a bit much for this area.
